Bukit Tabur 2018

This is an overdue post but I enjoy sharing my family's travels and hope to spread the message of a better and more meaningful life through travels.

Our family holiday this Chinese New Year was spent at Bukit Tabur. The nice, secluded and refreshing environment was the scene of our family gathering.

We stopped our cars at a road below the hill side retreat. The owner and his wife, which by the way are very nice and friendly people, drove us up to our accommodation in their 4 wheel drive vehicle.

The accommodation consists of a few buildings. If you have a large group of people, you can pick and choose who gets which rooms. There is a lot of privacy and the children will run their hearts out as the retreat has some nice paths and places for children to play in.

They also have a makeshift pool where you can fill in water for children to play in. For adults, the environment is refreshing with the numerous plants and retreat setting. You just want to relax and see the world move by slowly. It's a huge contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life though this retreat is within city limits.

There is also a karaoke system setup with disco lights for those who enjoy signing the day and night away. Children seems to enjoy singing as well.

So, after unpacking our luggage we took a stroll around the refreshing holiday retreat and find ourselves enjoying the atmosphere almost immediately. There is a huge kitchen and dining area, in fact a whole building by itself which is attached to the karaoke and entertainment area. You can cook and barbecue to your hearts content.

What is a holiday retreat in a natural setting if we do not setup camps for children. That's exactly what we did. The night view of the town below was amazing.

We woke up to birds chirping, fresh morning air and a cool breeze. The large windows help make the rooms airy. After a hearty breakfast, the kids played in the small pool while the adults relaxed and talked among ourselves.

Next, we took on a very important task. To scale Bukit Tabur. In the beginning everyone was very excited. We searched for an entry point to climb the hill. Finally we found it hidden away at the end of a dirt path and began our ascend. On the way we saw many hikers who encouraged us and who were surprised we had so many children in the group. Some also cautioned us to be careful as some parts of the hill can be slippery and steep.

The views along the way were breathtaking and definitely worth the effort. Just make sure you proceed carefully. The hill is the scene of some fatal accidents involving climbers. So, please beware !!

After 2 hours of relentless climbing, the group managed to reach the top of the hill. We were exhausted but extremely happy.

On top of the hill, one can see a big change in the type of plants. There were more mossy areas, pines and shorter trees. The whole scene transforms itself into a new landscape. It was magical to say the least.

The descend was faster but also more slippery. It was faster as we did not stop much.

Climbing the hill really tested our resolve but it also helped raise our spirits. With our tired legs, we dragged ourselves back to the retreat. Lunch was next but all we could think about was rest.

In the evening and after a good rest, we decided to visit Klang River which was nearby. In fact we went to the starting point of the river which is Klang Gates Dam. The water was clear and refreshing,

Malaysia is such a blessed country as we have hills and rivers side by side. You can climb a hill in the morning and relax by a river in the evening. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves, The kids loved it.

We stayed another night, sang ourselves silly in front of the karaoke and slept late. It was a most memorable holiday for the family.

Hope you've enjoyed my post and until we meet again, continue to travel for your life depends on it !!
